[Tru Blu Tuesday] Benghazi-Gate Wide Open

This just in: Your federal government is untrustworthy! Corruption and dishonesty run rampant where there is power to be gained! Truth is treason in the empire of lies!

America, this past week has provided a bucket load of bad news for us. Unfortunately, as disappointed as I am, there is hardly an ounce of surprise to be had at the atrocious abandonment of integrity from various departments within our federal government. While new details emerge in the Benghazi hearings almost every day and the whole story spins every so wildly out of control, it is readily apparent that trust in the word of government is about to take a nose dive.

Rewind back to September 11, 2012 when the tragic deaths of four Americans occurred at the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya. What we were told at the time was that a group of Islamist radicals attacked the embassy in a spontaneous outrage over a YouTube video that blasphemed the Muslim prophet Muhammad. I can still hear the echos of hatred and mockery aimed at the always-sore whipping boy known as Islam. Fast forward to today, and information revealed shows that the original storyline was quite different. From Forbes:

Despite numerous earlier terrorist incidents, repeated security requests from two of our Libyan ambassadors (including Chris Stevens who later died), were refused. Clear real-time evidence widely known from Day One established that the attack was carefully planned and executed, not a “spontaneous” event as claimed. It is also self-evident that available military assets which could have assisted our people under siege were not deployed. A cover-up is so apparent that Hillary’s appointed State Department Accountability Review Board (ARB), which was supposed to investigate the entire matter, has now come under investigative scrutiny. -Forbes, full article here

For more, Cincinnati reporter Ben Swann has almost an entire video library on the subject:

This is still under investigation and the story may yet change as more information is made public through the ongoing hearings. In the last few days three whistle-blowers have taken a stand with what they know, and it is suspected that others may join them.

The first problem with this whole mess, is the inaction and failure to protect the victims. Someone should be relieved of their duties because of this. I am not the one to say who, but it should be whoever is responsible for allowing it to happen. To date, some of the people involved have been transferred but no one has been held truly accountable.

The second, and arguably more sickening, offense is the dishonesty towards the American people about what really happened. This is a direct betrayal of the good people of this country. Think about it: we vote in our leaders with the expectation that they serve us fairly and justly. We allow them to have limited powers to govern and manage this group of fifty united States, and in turn we support their well-being while in office. How despicable it is that they turn on us to abuse their power for their own gain, and then lie about it when trouble rises!

Somehow, someway, it became common for citizens to think that government can do no wrong, and even, in essence, get away with murder. Not to say murder is the charge in this particular instance, but at a minimum gross negligence could definitely apply. Perhaps it is because we have come to trust our government too much. Perhaps it is the ornate seals or the intimidating acronyms that put an “official” mask over the individual’s faces. Certainly, if any one of us failed a basic responsibility at our place of employment that resulted in the unnecessary loss of life we would be fired instantly and swiftly dragged into court. -Let that sink in for a moment- Whatever the reason for our apathy, accountability has taken a vacation it seems, and desperately needs to come back to work.
